About Us

Oliver Bridge - founder of GenderCheckerGenderChecker allows you to check whether a name is male, female, or unisex. In a world of many cultures, the diversity of peoples’ names which we come across on a daily basis means that we can’t always be exactly sure whether we’re talking to a guy or a girl - GenderChecker is here to save the day!

With a database of over 48,000 names to search from, you’re sure to find out the gender of a name which you’re stuck with. And, with 66% of those surveyed also worried about mistaking peoples’ genders, you’re not alone either!

GenderChecker is the brainchild of young entrepreneur Oliver Bridge. Writing a covering letter for an internship, he realised that he wasn’t sure whether the recipient was male or female. Finding it difficult to get an answer on the internet, the idea for GenderChecker was born. A bit of web design and market research later, the site is here at your service.

Oliver made his first mark on business at the age of 15 with an online footwear store for people with large feet - www.biggerfeet.co.uk, which won him the Lloyds TSB ‘Enterprising Young Brit Award’ in 2005. He also made appearances in a number of media outlets including CNN, BBC News 24, The Financial Times and even Sugar Magazine.

Since then, Oliver has been involved in renovating a French townhouse (as advertised on this site) which can be seen at forge-properties.com and is the current Alumni Relations Officer for Oxford Entrepreneurs.
